"It won't be long until my car is seriously damaged by one of these potholes. They are a major concern, and there seems to be no improvements whatsoever by the council"

The Conservative County Council has decided that if a pavement in Crawley has a broken or dangerous slab; it will be taken up and replaced with black tarmac to save money. Crawley’s streets will soon become a patchwork of pavement and inferior tarmac. Twenty miles down the road in Storrington, West Sussex County Council has just spent £250,000 in replacing the high street pavements there, with high quality brick paving.

We say... Invest in Crawley!

Tory's deny Crawley of free swimming!

Millions across England will be enjoying free swimming... but not here in Tory controlled Crawley.

             Pothole Crawley

The under investment on Crawley’s roads is plain to see. For years, Crawley has suffered from under investment. After the New Year snow, roads crumbled and our ConservativeCounty Council panicked.

The town pays more in tax than any other West Sussex town, it employs more people than any other town in the county and still the lack of investment is clear to see.

Coachmans Drive.

Just drive down any road in Crawley and within minutes, you’ll see a pothole in the road. There are not just a few of these dangerous chasms in our town - there are hundreds.

Shackleton Road, Tilgate.

Crawley has suffered from years of underinvestment and lack of maintenance on our roads and that lack of money is so easy to see.

Crawley Road Junction.

They over spent on Fastway by £6,000,000 - has this left gaping holes in highway budgets as well as our roads?

A Chasm in Grattons Drive.

These potholes are accidents waiting to happen…. imagine a cyclist avoiding one of these monstorous holes in the road and veering into an oncoming car…..

Massive hole in Hazelwick Mill Lane.

The massive can of anti-freeze shows you the scale!

Our council tax went up by 4% last year and it’s due to go up by 4% again this year. What do they spend it all on? Not on road maintenance!

...and another Gaping Hole in Grattons Drive.

In Crawley, footpath and pavement repairs are £5,200,000 behind any other town in West Sussex. That’s not including the roads full of potholes!

Whilst out visiting a constituent a week or so ago, I had the misfortune to discover a huge pot-hole in Langley Walk, driving along the road, I realised too late that there was a huge hole in front of me and a parked car meant that I could not take any avoiding action. My car jolted and jarred as I drove over it.

I reported the offending hole to WSCC Highways fault report online, and received an email only a few days ago in which I was told that although the hole was very deep "it was not deep enough" to warrant immediate repair, but WSCC would keep and eye on it, how costly is this going to be.

Keeping a watching brief on it, allowing the road to deteriorate more before doing any repairs, and what about the cost to motorists, I just hope the cost is not more serious if this hole causes an accident to a cyclist or Motor cyclist.
